WASHINGTON, D.C.—The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) announced that Kate Fitzpatrick, ICMA-CM, will be joining ICMA as the Northeast regional director in July. Kate is retiring from her position as town manager of Needham, Massachusetts, in early July after an exemplary career in local government management.

"Kate brings over three decades of exceptional experience in municipal administration to this role. She began her career with Needham in 1990 as personnel director, was promoted to assistant town administrator, became town administrator in 2001, and served as Needham's first town manager when the town charter was amended in 2005.
Throughout her 20-year tenure as town manager, Kate has been recognized as a pioneer and advocate for women in government leadership. In 2017, she co-founded Massachusetts Women Leading Government with four other municipal administrators, an organization focused on supporting women's career advancement in local government. She also served as a member of ICMA’s Credentialing Advisory Board, 2019-2025, including a term as chair. Kate is known for her collaborative leadership style, positive outlook, and ability to bring people together to achieve meaningful results for the communities she serves.
"We are excited to welcome Kate to the ICMA team and confident that her experience, proven leadership, and commitment to excellence will benefit our members in the Northeast," said Julia D. Novak, ICMA-CM, ED/CEO.
